Company

Independent software.Built with purpose.

Robisonic is an independent software company that designs and develops web and native desktop applications.

We create focused, dependable products that solve practical problems and remain useful over time.

Our background

From specialist engineering to independent products.

Robisonic began as a specialist software consultancy working across audio systems, music technology, web applications, embedded devices, and product development. This work required close attention to performance, reliability, and the way people interact with complex technology.

Today, we apply that experience primarily to products of our own. We remain independent so we can make deliberate decisions about what we build, how it works, and how it develops over the long term.

Our focus today

Products first, supported by deep engineering experience.

Our main focus is building and supporting a growing portfolio of web and desktop applications. We value clear interfaces, responsive performance, and features that address genuine user needs.

Our desktop applications are designed and engineered specifically for desktop platforms, rather than being websites repackaged as desktop software. We choose technologies according to the product and the environment in which it will be used.

  • Independent and customer-funded
  • Web and native desktop applications
  • Clear, reliable, and maintainable software
  • Selective specialist consultancy

How we build

Good products come from disciplined decisions.

Our approach combines product judgment, careful engineering, and respect for the people who use our software.

Solve worthwhile problems

We begin with a clear understanding of the people, workflows, and problems a product should support. Features are evaluated by the value they add, not by their quantity.

Engineer for the platform

Performance, accessibility, interface design, and system integration are considered from the beginning. Each product should feel appropriate for the platform on which it runs.

Build for the long term

We favour maintainable systems, careful releases, and sustainable product decisions. The goal is software that can improve without becoming slower, less coherent, or harder to use.

Technical foundations

Experience behind the products we build today.

Selected projects from our work in audio, software, and physical interaction continue to inform our approach to product engineering.

Audio engine

Sonic Forge Engine

A real-time audio engine developed around responsive musical interaction, physical modelling, and controllable sound for instruments and creative tools. The project brought playback, sound design, and performance behaviour into a unified system.

Open source

SeaCodec

A lightweight audio codec for products where storage, bandwidth, battery life, and straightforward integration all matter. The project explored how capable audio technology can operate within constrained environments.

Music tooling

MTXT

A readable format for representing musical notes, timing, and expression. It was designed to make musical data easier for people and software to inspect, edit, exchange, and understand.

Hardware prototype

Expressive Keybed

A custom key assembly concept combining continuous position sensing with the mechanical requirements of a responsive digital instrument. The prototype brought together product design, sensors, software, and musical interaction.

Selected consultancy

Specialist engineering for selected projects.

Our own products are our priority, but we continue to work with a limited number of organisations where our experience is a strong fit. We can help define, validate, and deliver technically demanding software and product concepts.

Our consultancy experience is strongest where sound, music, devices, and software meet. This includes real-time audio systems, web applications, product prototypes, hardware-connected software, and specialised desktop tools.

Product principles

Software should respect the people who use it.

We prefer products with clear boundaries, focused interfaces, and a straightforward reason to exist. Accounts, payments, notifications, and other requirements should be introduced only when they provide a clear benefit.

We intend to remain close to our products and the people who use them. Independence gives us the freedom to make deliberate decisions, respond directly to feedback, and invest in lasting quality.
